A Word About This Issue

For our last issue of Hands On magazine for this school year, we’ve chosen to focus on women. We as a staff believe this issue in particular sheds some light on a subject that is often glossed over, if not completely ignored.
Although feminism is not the central theme for the issue, a certain element of feminism lies behind each of these articles. I can't concisely sum up what feminism is, or all that it encompasses, but ultimately it is about equality. It is about women having the same rights that men do, no questions asked. It is about men respecting women enough to not beep or yell at them walking down the street. It is about women's stories being heard and not silenced. It is about women being able to go into ministry and not be challenged by members of the church who insist that they submit to the authority of men simply because they are women.

"You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." Galatians 3:28

Male nor female. One in Christ.

This is what it's about.
