GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP TRIP LEADER
Provide Christ-centered leadership for the team by example and in word as well as incorporate spirituality into the full trip experience including pre-trip team meetings, while on-site, and during individual and team debriefings. Leaders can anticipate investing 5-15 hours per week for eight weeks prior to departure and two weeks following the trip.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Support and encourage your trip co-leader in their leadership.
· Participate in all GP trip leader trainings and meetings.
· Recruit team members (i.e. at GP Expo as well as informally).
· Select trip team members through the application and screening process.
· Assist in recruitment of an appropriate GP Trip Advisor.
· Lead weekly team meetings and encourage team members to utilize and explore their spiritual gifts, strengths, and skills.
· Foster teambuilding activities and community.
· Frequently communicate with GP Coordinator and help as needed with team-related/mission program tasks.
· Organize service /ministry experiences that will prepare the team to serve.
· Organize opportunities for the team to be exposed to and learn about the culture/environment/mission partner you will be serving / ministering in and with.
· Assist with Annual GP Auction and organize team-specific fundraising activities.
· Create and manage the team budget, receipts, and financial tracking reports.
· Ensure all NPU administrative logistical paperwork requirements are met by all team members and have one co-leader be the point person for the team and GP Coordinator.
· Know and utilize NPU's emergency/crisis response protocol.
· Recruit the necessary amount of drivers that meet the Physical Plant's criteria and follow Physical Plant's van policies (domestic trips only).
QUALIFICATIONS
· Lives Christian faith in action and has a heart for mission and service.
· Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead peers.
· Experience serving on a mission trip or extensive cross cultural experience.
· Second year student or above.
TIME COMMITMENT
The time commitment ranges depending on the Quad and the season of your trip. Expect about 4-5 hours of work/participation a week. Most group meetings will take place on campus during the evenings. Meeting with the coordinator will take place during work hours (9-5).
In other words, you will have a training meeting for 2 hrs every other week. You will meet with your group every other week and with your co-leader and advisor during the opposite weeks. You will also meet with the GP coordinator four times before the trip and two times after the trip.
Other time commitments include fundraising, meeting with individual group members who might need support, recruiting, publicizing events, volunteering for the EXPO and Auction, some homework from the training and special GP worship times before the trips.
