Education:  B.A. Wartburg College (Spanish); M.Ed. CESEM Business School, Barcelona (Educational Administration); RSA TEFL Certificate, International House, Sabadell, Spain; M.A. Applied Linguistics/TESOL, Northeastern Illinois University; Ph.D. Loyola University Chicago (Educational Leadership & Policy Studies).  Dissertation:  “Assessing Quality in Undergraduate Foreign Language Programs”  Director:  Jennifer Haworth.

Research interests:  Educational administration, teacher training, materials development and adaptation, experiential teaching techniques, interactive teaching techniques, program evaluation, institutional research. 

I enjoy creating web-based activities, working as the official scorer for the North Park University baseball and men's basketball teams, listening to a wide variety of music, reading, and traveling (when I can pry myself away from Chicago!).

Outside interests: Languages and linguistics, ethnic foods, historical baseball research, shortwave radio, playing Scrabble and cards with my father, watching the Cubs, White Sox, and Bears win (sometimes), 

Little known facts: I lived and taught EFL in Europe during the 1980s -- Madrid, 1981-85; Barcelona, 1985-88; Budapest, 1988-89.  I also volunteered at an Austrian youth hostel for a summer.

I like: Chicago deep-dish pizza, coffee, baseball, pre-invasion rock music, ragtime.

I don't like: people who are insensitive to other cultures, broccoli, el tráfico loco de Chicago.
