Polynomials and Roots: Practice Exercises

Here are various Exercises to accompany the section Polynomials and Roots.

Roots of Polynomials and Linear Factors

  1. Use the polynomial graphing technique from the text to analyze and sketch graphs of the following polynomials:
    1. f(t) = (x - 1)(2x + 3)3(x + 1)2/9.
    2. g(t) = -2/9(x + 1)(x - 3)2(x - 1)2.
    3. h(t) = -3x2(2x - 5)2(x - 2).

    Solution.

  2. Create your own polynomial as a product of powers of linear functions, then use our polynomial graphing technique to analyze and sketch its graph.  Repeat this Exercise as often as necessary until you are confident in your ability to sketch graphs of polynomials given in factored form.

    Solution.
