North Park University: Focus on the Important
MACD: Communicaty Development

Format of the Community Development Program

Relevant courses address actual community issues; some are even taught within community-based organizations. Faculty members provide professional leadership within organizations, giving students real-life experience and knowledge. Students have the benefit of experiencing hands-on master's projects, combining practical work experience with community input while giving critical attention to theory and application.

The Master of Arts in Community Development program requires 37 semester hours, may be completed in two-and-one-half years, and allows students to maintain full-time employment and/or volunteer activities. Courses are conveniently offered on Saturday mornings and afternoons and weekdays during the evenings to accommodate adults with both professional and personal commitments. Classes are scheduled to be convenient for students commuting to North Park from nearby cities.

As the first community development master's program in the Midwest, North Park's location provides unparalleled access to the many cultural and educational resources in Chicago. The curriculum is designed for the intentional integration of solid theory, cutting-edge information, and the practice of skills in the context of community organizations.
