HOW TO REQUEST/RENEW A BOOK
THROUGH I-SHARE
How to Request a Book
If you are searching North Park Library catalog and the book you request is not held there you can click the "Repeat search in the I-Share catalog" link or use the I-Share tab on the top bar. You can then request the book be sent to you at North Park or any other I-Share library.
Once you are viewing the complete record of a particular book, click on the Request button in the green toolbar at the top of the screen. You will then have to log into the system.
- Choose North Park University as your Home Library.
- Type in 27012 adding your 7 digit student ID number, your last name, then click the Login button.
The next screen asks you to choose what kind of request you want to make, but there isn't actually a choice, so just press the OK button.
The next screen is the actual Request Form. You'll have to type in your 14 digit library number again, and you can choose where you want to pick up the book. (It's defaulted to NPU Circulation.) You will receive a message letting you know if your request was successful. If your request was not successful, please contact Interlibrary Loan at (773) 244-5588 or the Library Circulation Desk for assistance, (773) 244-5580.
Once the item has been requested, you may at any time check the status by going to either the Library main page or the Library Catalog and clicking on the "My Account" button. My Account also allows you to renew your library materials.
Allow approximately 3-14 days for a requested item to arrive. To monitor the progress of your request, go to "My Account" as instructed above.
How to Renew a Book
Online renewal for North Park and ILLINET Online items:
- Go to the Library main page or the Library Catalog and click on "My Account".
- Enter your Library ID # (with the 27012 prefix). Enter your last name and click 'Login'
- Scroll down to the "Items Checked Out" section and click on the "Renew box" next to the item
- Scroll down and click on the "Renew Selected Items" button
- View the renewal date in the "Renewal Status" column. If the message "not renewed" most probably you have reached the limit that the owning library permits, or the item has been recalled.
