Helwig Recreation Center

In the spring of 2003, North Park purchased property on the south side of campus that serves as the current site of the Helwig Recreation Center. Opened in September 2006, the building includes a 200-meter two-lane indoor running track, batting cages, two basketball/three volleyball courts, a 35-yard section of practice turf mirroring the turf on the outdoor competition fields, a climbing wall, a two-level fitness area, classrooms, and offices.

Dedication Ceremony was held on September 15, 2006. View the ceremony photos.

The Helwig Recreation Center is intended for the internal use of North Park University faculty, staff and students. However, persons interested in a public facility in the area can inquire at the Galter LifeCenter, 5157 N. Francisco Ave., Chicago, IL 60625, phone (773) 878-9936.  North Park University alumni are entitled to a special discount at Galter LifeCenter.
