Housing Policy

Residential Requirements

As a North Park student, you are required to live on campus unless you fall into one of the following categories…

• you are a senior
• commute from home
• are 22 years of age or older

Housing is generally not available for part-time undergraduate students, undergraduate students over the age of 24, GOAL students, and students with children. North Park University undergraduate housing does not have housing available for married students. Students in these categories are encouraged to find housing independent of the University. If you feel your situation could warrant an exception, please see the Director of Residence Life and Housing.

North Park University Housing Policy Financial Aid Issues

Updated 4/2007

• Students whose financial aid award when they entered North Park was for an on-campus resident student, and who, in a subsequent year, moved off-campus will lose a portion of their financial aid if they received any North Park institutional financial aid beyond a scholarship.

• Students who move off-campus in violation of the university’s housing policy will lose up to $3,500 in North Park non-scholarship institutional aid. Students are considered in violation of the housing policy if they move off-campus before they reach senior academic status (90 hours), or are under 22 years of age (as of September 1 of the academic year). Institutional aid may include: Covenant member grant, North Park grant, tuition exchange, Covenant minister’s discount and other North Park institutional aid.

• Students not in violation of the university’s housing policy will lose $2,500 in institutional aid. Students who originally lived on campus were given a portion of their aid to help with the cost of campus room and board. When students moves off- campus, they are no longer eligible for that assistance, and thus, they will have their aid reduced by $2,500.

• Local students who are not 22 years old or of senior status, but who decide to move home can have their financial aid reduced by $2,500 rather than by $3,500 if the student petitions the Housing Policy Committee. A student must submit a letter to the Housing Policy Committee from the parents stating that the student will be living at the family’s home for the academic year. Appeals should be sent to:
