About NPU Rowing

Women's rowing is in its seventh year as an NCAA Division III varsity sport. North Park's women's rowing program has already established a winning tradition, having earned medals in numerous competitions including gold , silver, and bronze medal performances in the prestigious Dad Vail National Regatta in Philadelphia, PA.

No Previous Rowing Experience? No Problem!

The women's rowing program is dedicated to providing competitive opportunities for women at the varsity level. Because collegiate rowing offers a "novice class," no previous rowing experience is required; however a strong athletic background is desired. Athletes interested in trying out for the rowing team should be physically fit and have a strong cardiovascular fitness base.

Rowing is physically and mentally demanding and is often referred to as "the ultimate team sport." Picture yourself as part of an 8-person crew working in unison to pull your boat to the finish line ahead of your competition!

Division III Varsity Rowing

Our team values an "education-first" philosophy, and we encourage a well rounded collegiate experience. The women's rowing program has consistently maintained a GPA of over 3.0, and many of our athletes participate in other university organizations and campus ministry projects.

The NCAA allows 19 weeks for practice and competition, broken down into fall and spring segments. Participation in both seasons is mandatory. We are looking for student athletes that want to make rowing a strong part of their college career.

As a Division III varsity program, we cannot extend athletic scholarships. However North Park's financial aid is extremely competitive and U.S. News and World Report has recognized North Park University for its education and value.

More Than Just a Team, A Commitment to Community

Because of the dedication required to be a member of women's rowing, we work together as a team to meet the social and spiritual needs of the team members as well.

Each semester, our team organizes and participates in a Spiritual Outreach program. Our team's Social Committee organizes events to help acclimate new students and foster a familial atmosphere among team members.

Building a Winning Tradition

Now in our seventh season as a varsity sport, North Park University's Women's Rowing is building a winning tradition in the Midwest and nationally.
