Why Study Math at North Park University?
Liberal Arts Education
North Park University offers a well-balanced education.
You will master technical skills and grow as a person.
Excellent Faculty
Full time professors average more than two post-graduate degrees each.
Faculty members routinely talk with other departments to ensure that curriculum remains relevant and up to date.
For a small department we have diverse talents and interests including: algebra, applied mathematics, combinatorics, differential equations, education, modeling, physics, pure mathematics, service learning, and statistics.
Small Classes
Nearly all math classes have 30 or fewer people.
Most math classes beyond calculus have between 5 and 25 people.
Plenty of opportunities to form strong friendships with your classmates.
Professors adjust their teaching in response to student abilities and interests.
Student-Faculty Relationships
Math faculty know students as individuals.
Students are welcome in faculty offices.
Annual picnic for math majors hosted by faculty.
Rich, Inclusive Christian Environment
Multiple weekly services in addition to special events.
Both regular and special opportunities for Christian service and outreach.
The entire faculty is Christian.
While North Park University is part of the Evangelical Covenant Church many of the faculty, staff, and students follow other Christian traditions.
Students are welcome regardless of religious belief: the student body includes Christians and non-Christians alike.
Multicultural
North Park University is located in one of the most ethnically diverse parts of the country.
North Park University supports students from different cultural backgrounds.
Many math classes applaud great achievements regardless of cultural provenance and acknowledge what our society has adopted from others.
Every full-time faculty member of the math department speaks a second language and has spent substantial time outside of the United States.
Urban
Take advantage of local resources, from the Museum of Science and Industry, to local universities and theaters, to ethnic neighborhoods and restaurants.
