Africana Studies at North Park University
The Center for Africana Studies, established in 1994, is located on the first floor of Caroline Hall, 5111 North Spaulding Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625. The Center's purpose is to promote the study of African-American and African culture and heritage, while simultaneously establishing a campus environment that fosters the retention and recruitment of Black students. This includes the sponsoring of cultural events, public lectures and exhibits, artistic performances and other educational programs for the University community. The Executive Director serves as the advisor to the Black Student Association (BSA), SISTATALK , BRO/SIS Fellowship, and Brothers of Color.
We welcome back returning students, and extend a very special welcome to our new first-year students! There is always a sense of excitement at the beginning of a new school year: we see friends that we have missed over the summer, we meet people that are coming to North Park for the first time, and we are anxious to begin Fall classes.
