Sue brings 25 years of clinical nursing experience with specialization in Maternal/Child care to our Program. Joan Andrea, DNP, FNP, IBCLC Professional Faculty Assistant Professor of Nursing Joan Andrea joined the School of Nursing in 2005. Ms. Andrea graduated from Alverno College in nursing and Rush University in 2001 with a Doctor of Nursing Practice. She is a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and has worked as an FNP for six years. She also has worked with mothers and babies for over 20 years as a La Leche League leader and a certified International Lactation Consultant. Practice includes FNP in a pediatrician’s office in Gurnee. Previous work: family practice office since 2001. Research interests include lactation, technology in nursing education, and obstetrics. She belongs to a variety of organizations, including the International Lactation Consultant Association and Midwest Nursing Research Society and Society for Simulation in Healthcare. Teaching experience includes Nursing of Childbearing families, Health Assessment. Presentation: Sigma Theta Tau in July 2007, Vienna, Austria. Areas of Specialization: Family Practice, Obstetrics, and Lactation

Keith Bakken, MS, RN Lecturer in nursing. Currently teaching: Health Policy & Politics. Keith received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing at North Park. His nursing experiences include oncology nursing, acute psychiatric care, and physical rehab. He was a nursing instructor overseas in the Democratic Republic of Congo where he taught and supervised Congolese nursing students as a missionary with the Evangelical Covenant Church. He has also worked in Long-term care, Long-term Acute Care and as a Clinical Liaison for post acute care. He works at Resurrection-Holy Family Medical Center in Des Plaines, IL as Manager of Physician Services. Clinical interests include global healthcare and tropical diseases, mental health, ventilator care, and chronic illness. Other interests include leadership and hospital management, healthcare reimbursement and outpatient service delivery. He is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.

Mary Chase-Ziolek joined the seminary faculty in 1999 to direct the faith and health program combining the disciplines of health care, theology, and spirituality. She developed the health ministries program of the seminary, making courses available in distance formats. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she has served as a resource person for Covenant churches interested in developing ministries of health. Dr. Chase-Ziolek received her bachelor of arts from Beloit College in 1974 and her bachelor of science in nursing from Rush University in 1977. Her master of science in public health nursing was awarded by the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1982. She completed her doctorate in nursing at Loyola University Chicago in 1998. Her doctoral dissertation was "Health Ministry in the Life of a Congregation with a Parish Nurse." From 1982 to 1987, she was on the nursing faculty of North Park College and later served as Coordinator of Geriatric Health Ministry at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Dr. Chase-Ziolek has presented and written extensively on congregationally-based health ministries and parish nursing. Her book, Health, Healing and Wholeness: Engaging Congregations in Ministries of Health was published by Pilgrim Press in 2005. She has also done work on seminary wellness and clergy health. She and her family are members of North Park Covenant Church. In 2009 Dr. Chase-Ziolek received a dual faculty appointment and also teaches in the North Park University School of Nursing.

Linnea A. Johnson MSN, RN, CPAN,CAPA Adjunct Faculty of Nursing Area of Specialties: Adult Nursing, Perioperative Nursing Professor Johnson joined the faculty in 2007 as an adjunct faculty member. She graduated from North Park University with degrees in Nursing and Swedish. She received her Masters in Nursing from Marquette University with a major in Adult Nursing with a minor in Education. Her thesis was titled “Needs of the Families of Surgical Patients” She has taught Med Surg I and Med Surg II. She also teaches CPR, ACLS and PALS. She has worked at Swedish Covenant Hospital for 25 years. She has 8 years of experience on the step down surgical unit and 17 years in the PACU. Included in the 17 years in PACU were ten as the Clinical Nurse Educator. She is a past officer and still active in AACN. She is also a member of ASPAN, AORN and Sigma Theta Tau. She has 3 children. One attends North Park University, one will be following in her mother’s footsteps to be a nurse and the third is in 3rd grade. She enjoys Swedish Folk dancing and participating in Scandinavian Activities in the Chicago area.

Peggy (Margaret) Kotowski, MSN, RN, OCN Assistant Professor of Nursing Peggy Kotowski joined the School of Nursing faculty in 2008. She received her BS with a major in Nursing from North Park University and earned a Masters in Nursing with an education specialty from Lewis University. She has spent much of her career working in oncology with an emphasis in oncology clinical research. She is currently a member of the Oncology Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau. Teaching experience includes Adult Health and Leadership and Management in Nursing.
