What to Bring
As you pack your suitcase, you may wonder what you need to take on your trip. Here are some of the things we will give you when you arrive.
In your room you will find sheets, a pillow, pillowcase, blanket, towels, bedspread, and a washcloth. We will also give you a bottle of detergent to use when you wash your clothes and linens. The rooms also have electric fans.
In the residence hall, you will have access to several computers 24 hours a day, so you can send and receive email to keep in touch with family and friends. There is also a lounge and a small kitchen that you can use at any time.
Meal service begins with breakfast (7:30 to 8:30 am) on Monday, June 29th. If you arrive before the June 29 and want something to eat, you will find many restaurants in the neighborhood.
On the first day of the program we will give you a three-ring binder that you can use to keep handouts from your classes.
Here are a few ideas about what you might bring.
Clothing: comfortable shoes, because we will do a lot of walking on our field trips! The weather in Chicago during July is generally hot and humid, so you might also want to bring sandals, a hat or cap, sunglasses, and a small bag or backpack for day trips.
Camera, dictionary, pens, pencils, water bottle, suntan lotion.
Send me an e-mail if you have particular questions about what to bring.
